Doyle Bronson's Super System

Among all the books on the game of poker that have been written, there can't probably be a better one than Super System created by Doyle Brunson. Considering that it was written in 1979 by arguably the Babe Ruth of poker and several other authorities in the field, Super System is truly, in most cases, the "Bible of Poker", as so many prefer to call it.

The original title of the book was; How I Made $1,000,000 playing poker. The book, in its first chapter, discusses general poker, though it begins with Doyle Brunson's colorful forays into the world of poker.

Super System 1 is widely considered as the world's most authoritative book on poker and is also recognized by many poker players as a comprehensive course in poker.

The different strategies discussed by authors include reasoning out play, controlling emotion, watching competitors' play as well as other valuable tips for the poker player. Though it has now been 30 years since the book's publication, it is still a common thing to hear poker players, both young and old, swearing by Super System.

The book has different contributors and is divided in to several sections:

1. No-Limit Texas hold 'em - Doyle Brunson
2. Draw poker - Mike Caro
3. Seven-cud stud - Chip Reese
4. Limit Texas hold 'em - Bobby Baldwin
5. Seven-card stud high low split (with no qualifier for low) - David Sklansky

All the above authors are authorities in their specific fields and each of the individual chapter is focused on a different poker variation. This makes the book rich in several of the most popular poker variants.

No-Limit Texas hold 'em, having been wtitten by Doyle Brunson himself is reputed as the best chapter. Super System is considered to be the best-known material on poker ever published.
